- Rat chews on $18,000 worth of cash in an ATM in India
- The rat was found dead inside the machine alongside all the chewed on money
A bank in India got the shock of their lives as the discovered the reason as to why one of their Automated Teller Machines or ATMs stopped working properly.
According to a report made by international news agency, Reuters, the bank had a technician check the machine and what he saw was thousands of torn bills scattered inside the ATM. The bills are worth a whopping total of $18,000.
Not only that, they also saw the culprit, a dead rat.
According to Sandra Sharma, the branch manager of the State Bank of India (SBI) in Tinsukia, “The ATM was out of order for a few days and when our technicians opened the kiosk we were shocked to find shredded notes and a dead rat,”
“We have started an investigation into this rare incident and will take measures to prevent a recurrence,”
Unfortunately, the security cameras weren’t able to capture how the rat got into the machine.
Out of the 2.9 million rupees inside the ATM, the rat wasn’t able to chew on a total of 1.7 million rupees.
