“I know the shame associated with the assault.” Terry Crews details sexual assault in testimony to Senate

American actor and former American football player Terry Crews details his alleged sexual assault by a Hollywood agent last June 16 in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

He spoke in support of the Sexual Assault Survivor’s Bill of Rights.

“The assault lasted only minutes, but what he was effectively telling me while he held my genitals in his hand was that he held the power. That he was in control.”

At the particular testimony, Crews did kept the Hollywood agent who he says assaulted him anonymous, but it can be remembered that he has previously stated that WME agent named Adam Venit touched his genitals at one industry party last February 2016.

The actor filed a lawsuit against Venit and at the same time, dropped WME as his agency after stating his claim on his Twitter account.

However, Venit has denied the accusation made by Crews.

Crews further told the story of this pull-out from The Expendables‘ fourth installment after the producer asked him to drop his case against Venit or “there would be trouble. The producer Avi Lerner also has his own sexual harassment lawsuit filed by a former employee.

Lerner has called the accusations “all lies” but Crews stated that “abusers protect abusers”.

The actor then recalled his assault stating that it was very difficult for him to go public about it as he “was told over and over that this was not abuse. This was just a joke. This was just horseplay,”

“But I can say one man’s horseplay is another man’s humiliation. And I chose to tell my story and share my experience to stand in solidarity with millions of other survivors around the world. That I know how hard it is to come forward. I know the shame associated with the assault.

I wanted these survivors to know that I believed them, I supported them, and that this happened to me too.”

The Sexual Assault Survivor’s Bill of Rights would protect sexual assault survivors under various measures, including preserving rape kits and subsidizing examinations across the US.
