- Netizen posted a video of a traffic enforcer extorting Php2,000 from her and her foreigner husband.
- The traffic enforcer stated that it is a “settlement” for violating the number coding policy.
In a viral video from a Facebook user named Ernalyn Gacosta Eugenio, she exposed a traffic enforcer extorting Php2000 from her and her Caucasian husband, who acted as her driver at the time.
According to the traffic enforcer, they have been apprehended due to the violation of the coding scheme that day. The vehicle’s plate number to which the couple have ridden clearly reflected the violation; but rather doing the normal procedure, he said that he’s willing to receive two thousand pesos in exchange of letting them go.
In the video, the enforcer can be seen writing the couple a violation ticket. He then told them that if he confiscates the driver’s license, they will have to claim it from the city hall. He, however, didn’t proceed on doing so.
After Eugenio started explaining to her husband that they will just have to show the ticket just in case they get apprehended in another place, she thanked the officer as a way of goodbye but the enforcer suddenly asked them to pay him for the piece of document.
They handed the enforcer the Php2000 and the latter quietly hid it in his ticket book. The foreigner asked for the receipt of the amount he handed to the enforcer but the enforcer did not answer.
The driver went over the ticket again and said “It doesn’t say here that I gave you 2,000.”
“Aregluhan po Ma’am, yun, kung okay lang, sabi ko di ba? Para di na po siya pupunta ng city hall para magbayad,” the enforcer answered. As the couple became confused of the situation, the officer kept on trying to explain that the amount they paid was a settlement in order for them to keep the driver’s license.
In the end, the couple gave in to the negotiation and let the enforcer keep ‘so-called settlement money’ they handed him.

Netizens pointed out that both sides were wrong. The couple shouldn’t have let the enforcer tuck away with the said amount, The enforcer should have just given them the violation ticket because it’s supposed to be that way.
