Pepe Smith is undoubtedly one of Philippines’ Rock and Roll gems. He was known as the animated front man and guitarist of the 70’s influential band, Juan dela Cruz.
One of the hot topics in all social media platforms lately is Pepe Smith and Cristy Fermin’s falling-out at Raffy Tulfo’s show, Wanted Sa Radyo.
Pepe Smith went to the show to complain about his concert producers who allegedly refused to pay them after their concert on June 2 at the Amoranto Stadium. He also revealed that the producers refused to pay not only his band but the bouncers and caterers as well.
The producers, Mark Julius De Leon and Joel Miranda of AMP Productions went to the show to clear up the dispute and defend themselves.
De Leon and Miranda, admitted that they indeed made a mistake by not paying the band. They explained that the reason why they were not able to pay is that Smith’s concert didn’t sell so they had no money to pay him. “Sumablay yung event, at saka sir hindi lang ako producer dito. Pepe Smith Rock Fest to eh. Dalawa kaming producer. Ang capacity ng venue, 15,000. Isang daan lang dumating. Walang kinita.”
De Leon issued an apology to all the people who has not been paid. “Sa lahat po muna ng di ko pa nabayaran, buong pagpapakumbaba po akong humihingi ng pasensya sa inyo. Hindi ko ako tumatakbo sa responsibilidad.”
The confrontation between the producers and the rock icon started and they began to throw their case towards each other while defending themselves from other allegations. The producer even stated that the reason why the sponsors backed out was because of Pepe Smith himself. “Eh sir napaka-lakas gumastos niyan, napaka-lakas mag bisyo niyan. Event mismo ng sponsor namin, uminom siya ng ibang brand ng alak. Yung dapat na 2.5 Million na sponsorship niya, ginawang 1 Million.” De Leon disclosed.
In the middle of their argument, Cristy Fermin suddenly asked permission from Tulfo to relay a message to Smith. Tulfo gave Fermin the permission to speak.
According to Fermin, Smith disrespected and cursed her daughter even after all that she’s done for him. Fermin’s daughter was a former manager of the rock star.
“Ang anak ko, dating manager niya. Mga interviews mo, Pepe, nabasa ko, niloko ka ng anak ko. Winasak mo ang dignidad ng anak ko.” she expressed
After Fermin revealed the things that Smith did to her daughter, she attacked him with “Pepe, bastos ka. Masamang damo ka talaga kaya matagal kang mamamatay.”
In the end, De Leon promised to pay the amount he owes in a span of two weeks.
