A man in Haryana, India filed a police complaint against eight men who allegedly abused his farm goat.
The goat owner, Aslu, has reported the case on Thursday, July 26, accusing the men of raping his pregnant goat, which eventually died. According to the owner, he noticed that his goat was missing and when he searched for it with the help of other villagers, he found three men raping it. As the villagers have beaten the three men, they tried to implicate other men who were involved in the said disgusting act.
The said men (who were also implicated) are currently on-the-run and Police officer Nagina Rajbir Singh said that they have formed teams to search for the suspects, as reported by news agency ANI.
Animal rights activists were infuriated by the incident and one of them, member of animal rights non-profit group PETA Meet Ashar, posted on his Facebook account about the rapid increase of animal abuse.
“People who are violent often start with animals as victims and then move on to humans. This case should, therefore, worry everyone,” Ashar said.
He said a First Information Report or FIR has been filed under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
Since the news was released the the story has been shared thousands of times and the hashtag #JusticeForGoat has trended.
