October has just started but it seems like Halloween is already here. Hair-raising movies like Annabelle are being shown in the big screens, zombie-themed events are being organized, and mommies are getting prepared for the children’s trick or treat costumes. If you want some spooky adventure, we collected 10 spine-chilling places to visit this Halloween.
1. Malacañang Palace – Stories about ghosts surround the Palace. Residents and employees said they saw the late President Ramon Magsaysay in certain areas of the house. Some tells of seeing a black lady in the Mabini Hall, a Kapre near the entrance, and a ghost of American chaplain, Father Brown.
2. 5th Floor, Philippine National Bank building, Roxas Blvd – According to Carlos Celdran, the place was used as a morgue in the early 1980’s for the victims of the Regent Hotel fire. He also added that it was considered so haunted that the number 5 has been removed from the elevator buttons.
3. Ozone Disco – It was in 1996 when 100+ people were consumed by a huge fire in this place. Years after, witnesses still say they hear heavy music and voices from the abandoned place. Creepy!
4. Manila Film Center – Rumor has it that this place became the resting place for hundreds of workers who were buried alive in in 1981 when the scaffolding of the upper floor crumbled during its construction. Stories were told there were workers that have been trapped to which the former First Lady Imelda Marcos ordered to be buried alive with cement.
5. Paco Park – This place has been a popular venue for weddings and special events. The park has been a resting place for a number of people, including Jose Rizal, the Martyred priests, GOMBURZA, in the Spanish era. In 1966, it was declared a national park
6. Clark Air Base Hospital – This place in Angeles City, Pampanga has been a place of refuge for wounded and dying soldiers in World War II. Because of restless spirits haunting this abandoned site, it was dubbed by Ghost Hunters International to be “one of the most haunted places in the world”.
7. Mehan Garden, Manila – Formerly known as Jardin Botanico, over 24,000 Chinese people were massacred in this place in 1603. According to Carlos Celdran, “it’s one of those places where no matter how many lights you turn on, the place still seems dark.”
8. The Diplomat Hotel – Thrill-seekers love this place in Baguio. During World War II, many priests were slain at the hotel’s ground floor and 2nd floor when it was attacked by the Japanese soldiers. Babies were also mercilessly executed near the fountain area. That’s why sightings of a headless priest and cries of an infant were often heard in the hotel. The building was then renovated in turned into the Baguio Dominican Heritage Hill and Nature Park in 2012.
9. Corregidor Hospital – This hospital ruins was then crowded with thousands of dead Japanese and American soldiers before the 2nd World War ends. The place looks very creepy but tourists love visiting the place.
10. Museo ng Maynila – The staircases that leads to the abandoned dormitories, the very old ballroom and theater stares down the Luneta park through creepy Banyan trees. So eerie that no one wants to go near it.
