Guam – A masked thief apologized to two employees of a small casino in Hagatna before running off with $5,000 in hand.
In the surveillance video, a man wearing a black ski mask with a hand gun entered the Lucky Land game room.
Based on the statement of one of the employees named Genevie Santos, the robber pushed the glass door violently, “He forced it open and pointed the gun and told all of our guests to ‘Drop on the floor or I’ll shoot.'”
A customer said there were at least 6-8 people in the establishment playing games. When the thief went toward the attendant’s room where Santos and her boyfriend, Jhun Olivarez were staying, they all took off.
The surveillance shows the bandit getting inside the employee’s room, stealing more cash, before taking Olivarez’s wallet which had about $200 and an ID. “I was in a state of shock, crying and crying,” Santos said.
To the couple’s surprise, the thief apologizes and hugged them. Then he kissed Olivarez on the neck and Santos on the forehead before fleeing. This was captured in the surveillance footage.
Santos recalled the thief’ telling them that he had just gotten out of prison. He also said,
I’m sorry, I have no choice. No one wants to hire me. I’m sorry you had to be the ones working.
When Santos said they didn’t have money to renew Olivarez’s license, the man returned the ID and gave Olivarez $7.
Santos told the reporters, “I can’t tell if he was (just) acting, like, that he didn’t have a job. But he seemed like he was really sorry.”
