- Mel Tiangco shared Magpakailanman‘s secret for success.
- For her, network competition is better as it provides fun when it comes to watching television.
GMA Network‘s Magpakailanman is celebrating its seventh year in December, and if one could count the years that it was off-air, the drama anthology is on its way to its 11th year.
Mel Tiangco said that even though she is the face of the show and vice versa, she’s not the only one that running it.
“You know, I appreciate that, and I’m very happy about that, pero hindi lang ako ang Magpakailanman.
“Hindi lang ako, you know? Ang dami-dami namin para mapaganda at maibigan ng publiko ang Magpakailanman.”
She mentioned all the researchers, writers, editors, cameramen, location managers, make-up artists, and many others that also play important roles for the program.
And aside from the stars that work hard to deliver another person’s story, the people who allow them to share a bit of their life are also a big part of where they are now.
“The subject of our stories who wholeheartedly, you know, shared their lives with us. Iyon ang pinakamalaking bahagi ng success ng Magpakailanman.
“Mga taong nagtiwala sa Magpakailanman, shinare ang kanilang mga hirap sa buhay, ang kanilang mga ambitions, ang mga frustrations. And also their successes. Iyon ang pinakamahalagang factor in the success of Magpakailanman.”
When asked about what she thinks about the network rivalry between GMA Network and ABS-CBN, she exclaimed, “It should exist!”
The veteran journalist said that the competition adds to the fun of watching local television.
“E, di hindi masaya ang panonood natin kung hindi magtatalo yang dalawang yan.
“Because there is also something positive in the network war in the sense that, both networks try hard and try hard and try hard.”
Is she affected about the ratings war?
“Apektado in the sense that I have a show that needs to rate. But as a televiewer, parang… kasi kanya-kanya yan, e!
“Meron kang show na mas gusto mo e, kesa sa iba, e. Ke may rating yan ke wala, ‘Gusto ko ‘to!’. May ganun e, di ba?”
