- Vaginal apathy is a condition that causes the vaginal walls to thin.
- One of the things that women can do to prevent vaginal apathy is to have an active sex life.
If some think that a condition that results from the lack of sexual activity is impossible, well, they may be wrong.
According to Louise Mazanti, a London-based sex therapist, it is important to have a healthy sex life with or without a parnter.
“People very often say, ‘I don’t have a sex life because I don’t have a partner.’
“But forget about that and have a sexual relationship with yourself. It’s about using massage and touching the tissue so that it becomes alive, the blood flows and the tissue becomes elastic.”

So what happens if one doesn’t have a vaginal “workout”?
One may risk herself into having vaginal atrophy.
Vaginal atrophy is a common condition that causes the vaginal wall to thin. It can be a problem for women of all ages, but it’s more likely to affect those who are going through, or have been through, menopause.

It’s a result of the body producing less estrogen than normal, and it causes an effect on how the vaginal wall moves.
Vaginal atrophy can also happen to women who have been treated for cancer, especially those who experienced hormone treatments for breast cancer.
Symptoms can be discharge, burning, itching, difficulty peeing and pain during sex.
According to Mazanti, if cells are not getting enough oxygen, they cannot eliminate waste from the tissue, which can cause inflammation that leads to problems such as vaginal atrophy.

A buildup of toxins can also stop vital nutrients from getting to the cells, which can leave the tissue slightly weaker and thinner.
She added that losing the ability to have sex may not only affect a person physically, but also mentally.
