As a Youtuber, one would think of a video content that would catch the viewer’s attention so it could go viral. But one of the YouTuber’s post has backfired, after doing a prank on firing employees in a Walmart store that left a Filipina cashier in tears.
A Youtuber named Lauren Love, who has 147,000 subscribers, had pulled a “you’re fired” prank by pretending to be CEO and fired several Walmart employees. Among the employees she pranked was Maria Leones, a Filipina cashier who had been working for six long years at the Richmond, Texas outlet.
Leones felt so bad and said she was “crushed” by the prank. The job is very important for her because it covers the medical expenses of her husband who recently had a heart attack and underwent a quadruple bypass which Love didn’t know about.
On her video prank, Love was questioning Leones why she was working in a different section of the store if she was a cashier. And because of it, she told her that she was fired. Leones cried after hearing it from her.
“I don’t appreciate you walking around here, you’re supposed to be at the cashier, cashing people out. What if someone doesn’t see you because you’re actually over here,” she said.
“I’m the CEO and I actually want you to be over there. Actually, I’m gonna need to see your badge, I’m gonna need to see your badge and your vest because you’re fired.”

Before she broke into tears, she said that she had been doing her job well and even become the employee of the month.
“I have been here for six years. I’ve been doing my job very well, I’ve been regarded as an employee of the month,” she said
The YouTuber revealed the truth as she was only pretending and assured her that she was not fired.
“I’m sorry I did not mean to make you cry, you’re not fired. I’m sorry, you’re doing a really good job. You’re fine, I’m sorry,” she said.
Love and her cameraman were banned from the Walmart stores because of the offensive prank they pulled on the employees. In a released statement, the store believed that their employers were working hard to serve their customers and do not deserve such kind of disrespect.
“This prank is offensive and the people responsible are no longer welcome in our stores. Our associates work hard every day to serve our customers. They do a fantastic job, deserve better than being subjected to such disrespect, and will continue to have our full support.”
Love released an apology video on Youtube where she admitted her mistake and apologized for hurting the feelings of Leones. She also said that she was only doing it for content.
“I just wanna truly apologize to the Walmart lady that I hurt. I feel, honestly, really bad. Do not feel bad for me, that was my mistake.”
“I’m an entertainer so I expect good content that my viewers will enjoy. I do it purposely for entertainment.”
Love said that Youtube did not turn down her video, she personally changed it to private. For her, that experience will serve as a lesson.
“I actually took the video down, I made the video private myself. YouTube did not take the video down,” she said in her video.
In a report of KPRC 2 Click2 Houston, Maria Leones also warned those people who do social experiments to be careful because emotion can be so dangerous.
“The only thing that I can tell people who do social experiments like that os to be careful, emotions can be so dangerous.”
