- Angela Perez needed help to enroll in school because her parents were in prison
- Angela asked the help of PCPL Claro Fornis who arrested her mother
- Fornis agreed to be her guardian so she could continue studying
In a report by ABS-CBN News, a grade 7 student named Angela Perez needed help to study because both her parents were in prison. She needed a guardian in order to enroll so Angela asked the help of PCPL Claro Fornis, the officer who arrested her mother.
Fornis immediately agreed to be her guardian and went to General Pio Del Pilar National High School to officially enroll her.
“Pag-involved ang bata, nadudurog yung kalooban ko pag’ nasasaktan, naaapi ang mga bata. Nung nagtapat siya sa akin na gusto niyang mag-aral, yun. Hindi ako nag-alinlangan na tulungan siya.” Claro said in the interview.
Angela has other problems though as it was discovered that she has thyroid cancer.
National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Guillermo Eleazar was touched and they promised to help Angela with her studies and her medication with the help of the Sothern Police District (SPD) and Regional Health Services. They also surprised Angela with school supplies and food.
“We are committed, na tulungan siya sa mga susunod pang araw para sa kanyang kalusugan”- NCRPO Chief Eleazar
They hoped Angela’s determination to finish her studies will serve as a good example for other students.
Angela was also inspired by the people who helped her as she now dreams of becoming a police officer to also help other people.
“Gusto ko na rin maging police, para rin po makatulong sa mga tao,” she said.
Meanwhile, Fornis was awarded a medal in recognition of his kindness in helping people in need.
