- He found out that his phone was for sale on Facebook Marketplace
- He was sure that it was his phone because of the minor damage the same as his mobile phone
- He decided to go public by using social media where people can read his post and be aware of the snatcher “Modus Operandi”.
A Twitter user named Juan Antonio Saavedra shared his experience when a snatcher stole his mobile phone around the Taft area when he was on his way back from school.
After a couple of days, he found out that his phone was for sale on Facebook Marketplace.
Because of the minor damage that was similar to his phone’s, he was sure that it was the phone that was stolen from him.
A couple days ago, my dumbass got my phone snatched around the Taft area on my way back from school. Fast forward a couple days later, I find my phone for sale on the FB Marketplace. I was able to tell it was mine due to the phone having the same minor damages as mine. pic.twitter.com/GAxSWTIFp0

In an interview of the Dailypedia via direct message, he said that after he had found out that his stolen phone was for sale on FB Marketplace, Saavedra went to the police to ask for help. The police suggested doing a sort of buy-bust operation. They also explained to him the papers he should process like filing a case against the snatcher.
Because he was still a student, he didn’t have much enough time to process all the papers needed and he wasn’t financially stable to afford legal help to file a case.
“I went to the police and they suggested some sort of buy-bust kind of operation. But they also let me know of all the possible paperwork (like court and all) and seeing as I’m not the most flexible when it comes to time (because I’m a student) and I’m not exactly financially stable, I figured it wasn’t worth pursuing which is why I just decided to go public with it. Whatever happens, happens, I guess.”
That led to him making the post on Twitter in the hopes of warning people to be careful when they make online purchases.
