A netizen expressed her regret that she judged her mother as homophobic and someone who will never change her views.
In a Twitter post of a certain Aira, she narrated that she helped her lesbian cousin and her partner when their son got sick, but she never told her parents because she assumed they were still homophobic.
Eventually, Aira’s mom found out that she helped her cousin.
But instead of getting upset, she told Aira that she was proud of her because of what she did.
“I am so proud of you. You have this heart of compassion… extending help to people in need. I admire your random act of kindness,” Aira’s mom said as shown in a photo of their conversation that was uploaded on Twitter.
“I am really proud of you but I did not tell that to Papa. I love you so much and I am always and I am really proud of you. You are not only beauty with brains but also very compassionate,” her mom added.
Aira said she felt bad for assuming that her mother would be angry with her if she had known she that she had helped a lesbian.
She said she’s glad that “people change.”

“I feel so ashamed that I judged that my mom’s views wouldn’t change over the years. Initially, yes she wasn’t very accepting of them,” Aira wrote in another tweet.
“We’d argue about it sometimes, that my cousin’s partner is family now, too. But I’m so happy she’s happy and there’s not a hint of homophobia at all,” she added.

She went on saying, “Ok my dad might still be a bit angry.”
“Idk (I don’t know) maybe but seeing this from my mom, I feel she’s changed and I’m so happy it means she truly accepts my cousin and her partner as family. Hu hu,” she concluded.
