A netizen, who is the daughter of a lesbian couple, took to social media to air her frustration with people who discriminate against same-sex couples on religious grounds.
In a Twitter post, a certain Iris Vicencio expressed her dismay with someone who messaged her and told her to read a bible so she would know that same-sex relationships are wrong.
“So someone just messaged me telling me to read a bible and that what my parents are doing is against the bible,” Iris wrote.
“This is honestly so disrespectful, coming into my inbox forcing your beliefs on me and telling me my parents’ love is wrong— is so annoying to me. Mind your business,” she added.
Iris uploaded a photo of her conversation with the netizen.
The netizen said: “Ate magbasa ka po ng bible ng malaman mo kung bakit bawal yan sa bible. Di ko po alam kung mas marunong po ba kayo sa bible? Mas tama po kayo sa bible?”
“No matter what you say utos po ng Diyos yun. Basa basa bago mag-post. Nakakahiya kasi ate eh. Ha ha ha. Thanks,” the netizen added.
Iris replied, “I don’t know what ur talking about specifically but don’t force your beliefs to other people. Not everyone is Catholic and not everyone has to follow your beliefs.”

The netizen messaged her after she tweeted and shared her LGBT parents’ love story.
In her tweet, Iris said her gay parents had been co-workers for 10 years.
“They’re both gay. Mom 2 says mom 1 was the most beautiful woman she’s ever known but she didn’t know if mom 1 was gay too until they accidentally saw each other at a bar they’ve never been too but was dragged to by their friends. It was fate,” she wrote.
Iris’ tweet elicited reactions from a lot of netizens, who mostly disagreed with the sender of the message.
Here are some of their comments:
“As a Catholic I am embarrassed by his/her actions. Please know that he/she does not reflect the views and opinions of all Catholics.”

“How rude of them. They give Catholics a bad name.”

“I am a catholic, a wife, a mother and a teacher but all I saw in your post is two people who love each other and raised a beautiful family. 😍 What the sender said is in no way a representation of what all Catholics think and feel.”

“I’M CATHOLIC AND GAY and I’m sorry this person offended you and your family. We’re not all built to think the same about the bible or our faith. Some people forget that love & respect should triumph above everything. Your family is beautiful. ❤️”

“Porke hindi straight mali na agad? Aba. Ghorl. So kapag ba naging straight na kami suddenly santo na kami? Kahit magmura kami? Kahit gawin namin ang sex before marriage? Kahit ba hindi kami magsimba? Wala sa sexuality mo ang paniniwala mo sa diyos o bible. Tss.”

“I’m a Catholic, I’m a bisexual and I have a girlfriend 🤷🏻♀️ I’m religious, but I don’t use the Bible to slap it on someone else’s face. Who are we to judge?”

“As a Christian, I’d like to apologize for him/her. I don’t know what they were taught but all I know is we were taught to love others no matter what they believe and no matter who they love. Your moms have a wonderful love story. God loves your family. ❤️”
