“Do not judge quickly.” Netizen shares a hearbreaking story amid COVID-19 fears

“Malapit ko na sanang sabihin na open na lang namin window para at least hindi iikot sa taxi niya kung ano mang virus ang meron siya.”

  • A netizen shared a story on her Facebook account that led her to realize that we shouldn’t judge others quickly.
  • She encountered a taxi driver whom she thought was just being unhygienic but was actually experiencing a tragic situation.

People can’t help but feel more cautious with the fear of COVID-19 hanging over our heads. It doesn’t help that Manila is such a congested area and it’s quite difficult to keep every single citizen safe.

This panic is what a netizen experienced while riding a taxi one day. But her taxi ride had a heartwarming twist of events.

Facebook user Joy Chiong shared her story on her profile. She started it off with a piece of advice. “Don’t judge quickly,” she wrote.

The netizen noticed that her driver was sniffling quite frequently and kept on wiping his face during her ride. Bit by bit, she grew worried as she left her face mask at home and is pregnant.

“Malapit ko na sanang sabihin na open na lang namin window para at least hindi iikot sa taxi niya kung ano mang virus ang meron siya.”

But then the driver received a call and discussed financial matters with someone who seemed like one of his children on the other line. As soon as his call ended, he talked to Chiong, asking for her understanding.

The driver shared a heartbreaking situation: his eldest child died. He proceeded to tell that his panganay got stabbed in Tondo recently and was admitted to the ICU for five days but didn’t survive.

His child was 29 years old and became the victim of a group while going home from school. “Ikaw iha mag-iingat ka ha, God Bless anak,” he told Chiong as she was alighting from his taxi.
